Pulmonology
DeTar Medical Group - Pulmonology provides a variety of diagnostic, preventive and treatment services for diseases that affect breathing and lung function. The pulmonary physician works collaboratively with an interdisciplinary group of specialists, including oncologists, surgeons and other health care professionals, to provide services related to:
- Adult critical care
- Asthma
- Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease
- Emphysema
- Interstitial lung disease
- Lung cancer
- Pneumonia
- Pulmonary embolism
Pulmonary specialists provide a range of inpatient and outpatient breathing treatment services, including:
- Arterial blood gas (ABG) - A blood test used to evaluate the lungs’ ability to provide blood with oxygen and remove carbon dioxide, as well as to measure the pH (acidity) of the blood
- Bronchial hygiene therapy (BHT) - Various airway clearance techniques like chest physiotherapy, breathing exercises, postural drainage and more
- Evaluation of care - Home care need requirements, including patient education, and referrals for oxygen and respiratory therapy equipment
- Lung function studies - Examinations and evaluations of the entire respiratory system including patient history, physical examinations and tests
- Oxygen studies - Including nighttime, exercise and resting studies
Therapies and tests such as the ones listed above are not only able to determine the type and severity of the issue, but also provide useful information that allows staff members to choose the appropriate treatment method for the individual patient.
